From red bricks to a plastered wall

In the home of Norwegian home blogger Elisabeth Halbjørhus and her husband, the living room underwent a major transformation to make room for their new wood-burning stove. Elisabeth’s husband put on his work gloves and quickly transformed the red bricks from his childhood into a concrete-like wall with an industrial look, and the old soapstone-clad stove was replaced with the new cubist Aduro 12. In this way, Elisabeth managed to create a space in the room that matched the rest of the interior design.

The image below shows the process leading up to the finished result:

Minimalist and modern

Elisabeth loves the modern and minimalist style with strong contrasts, dark colours and clean lines combined with her personality. And she likes to combine the natural and the industrial. This is one of the reasons why they fell for the cubist Aduro 12:

“It was important to us that the stove fit in with the style of our living room.  The aesthetics of the stove were therefore very important when choosing a model. We chose an Aduro 12 because, with its clean lines and large corner window, it creates a fantastic atmosphere in the living room that we enjoy gathering around. Of course, it was also important to us that the stove provides good heat, is easy to light and burns economically.”

Countless benefits

There are many advantages to buying a wood-burning stove. However, if Elisabeth has to emphasise what she loves most about her stove, it’s that:

  • The stove becomes a natural gathering point for the family
  • The stove provides a nice, cosy warmth in the living room
  • The stove is an extra piece of furniture in the living room that gives the whole room a lift

A piece of advice

”My best advice to prospective stove buyers is to take the time to establish a number of criteria based on your needs and wishes. When you harmonise your wishes and expectations in advance, it’s easier to find the right stove and avoid making the wrong purchase.”

We have compiled a list of considerations you should have before buying a stove. You can find it here.
